Commercial and DIY Methods of Control

There is now a wide selection of product to help protect your plants from these ravenous beasts, some are more effective than others. Here we try to describe the more common controls, discuss how they work and list some of their good and bad features.   

Common Commercial Solutions

• Slug Pellets or Bait

• Traps

• Copper bands and tape

• Shells

DIY Solutions

• Hand Picking

• Nematodes

• 'Honey Pot'

• Caffeine

• Natural Predators

Some of the above methods of control are more effective than others, some only start to pay off after an extended period, particularly the DIY solutions and may need to be backed up by late-night slug-hunts until the method of control becomes self-sustaining.
