Where to find the materials

You can get most of the larger materials you need to construct a hydroponics system from a good DIY store, others components are a little more specialised.

If you're lucky enough to have a local hydroponics store then you can buy all you need there, most stock connectors, tubes, pumps and heaters. All carry nutrient concentrate. If you don't have a local store then most of the hardware can be found at an aquatics retailer, in fact most of the hardware is made for the aquatics market. Nutrient can be ordered over the 'net or mail order, many stores have web-sites with contact details and manufacturers will put you in contact with a local outlet if you call or mail them.

Plant forums increasingly carry a Hydroponics thread and provide a useful knowledge base from people who have been growing using these methods for some time. Personal experiences are often the best way of finding out about a particular aspect of growing and helps avoid common pitfalls. Advice on these forums is happily given, and best of all it's free!
